NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE ROWE HISTORICAL COMMISSION BY-LAWS

In accordance with the provisions of Massachusetts General Law and the Town of Rowe General By-Laws, the Rowe Select Board will hold a Public Meeting to consider proposed amendments to the Rowe Historical Commission By-Laws.

PURPOSE OF HEARING:

The purpose of this meeting is to receive public input on the proposed amendments to the by-laws governing the Rowe Historical Commission. These amendments are intended to strengthen the Commission’s administrative clarity and strategic focus. Major proposed changes include:

• Clarifying the number, appointment process, and term lengths of Commission members.
• Reaffirming the Commission’s role under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40 §8D to identify, document, and advocate for preservation of historical assets in Rowe.
• Establishing a framework for coordination with the Massachusetts Historical Commission, Rowe Planning Board, Select Board, and other civic bodies.
• Detailing annual reporting requirements, quorum rules, and procedures for meetings.

If approved by the Select Board, the amended by-laws will be submitted for consideration as a Warrant Article at the Special Town Meeting scheduled for a date to be determined.
